Collaborative Problem Solving (methodology)

What is it?
The capacity of an individual to effectively engage in a process whereby two or more agents attempt to solve a problem by sharing the understanding and effort required to come to a solution and pooling their knowledge, skills and efforts to reach that solution38. (OECD, 2015)
Why is it useful in VET?

  • Collaborative problem-solving is listed by OECD as one of the critical and necessary skill across educational settings and in the workforce
  • Since collaborative problem solving is rarely taught in schools there is space for it in VET because if it could reinforce knowledge and improve attainment.
